Though this may change over time, currently you can have up to 100 accounts in Google Analytics (per Google login). For most of us simple website owners, we will probably only ever use 1 account. However if you should have more than one and would wish to delete account in GA, then this quick tutorial will show you the steps.
How to Delete Account in Google Analytics
Log into your Google Analytics account.
In your Home screen, you will see a list of your Accounts. Clicking any of them will show that Account’s Properties and Views.
We are now going to delete the Charlie Brown account (which was created as an exercise for our Google Analytics 101 beginner’s course).
To delete account in Google Analytics, click into the Admin page.
On the Admin page, check/select the correct Account you want to delete. Then click Account Settings.
In the following Account Analytics page, you can once again check you have selected the correct account you want deleted.
Click the Move to Trash Can button.
On the following page, you will be given some precautionary notes. Deleting an account in Google Analytics means that all its properties and views will also be deleted. It will also remind you to remove any code you might have inserted into your website. When you are sure this is what you want to do, click the Trash Account button.
You are then automatically brought back to the Admin page. When you click the down-arrow in the drop-down Accounts box, you will see the Account(s) you have deleted. The deleted accounts will be grayed and struck through.
These deleted accounts will disappear in 35 days. In the meanwhile, Google provides you with a safeguard in case you have done a deletion by mistake.
How to restore a Deleted Account in Google Analytics
After 35 days of deletion, the account and all data will be permanently deleted. But before then, you can restore it.
In your Google Analytics Admin window, select the account you want to restore. Click the Trash Can link.
A panel opens up. You can select the account you want restored and then click the Restore button.
Note that it also gives you the date when you first deleted it and when it will be permanently deleted if not restored.
