How to Create AdSense used to be much more confusing than it is now. So that is a good thing. But it can still be a bit confusing getting one’s head around AdSense for Content, AdSense for Search, Custom channels, URL channels, and so on.
In this guide on how to create AdSense, I will depart from my normal illustrated step-by-step tutorial. Google changes over time and their AdSense interface can change quite significantly. So any illustrations or screen captures I could give you now might be confusing and out-dated by the time you need this information.
Instead I will provide links to the most appropriate pages for you. In that way, we can try to minimize the normal information overload, dictated by the numerous hyperlinked articles, that one normally sees in the Google Help sections. Remember, this is written with the aim of helping an AdSense beginner create and apply AdSense ads on his web pages as quickly and painlessly as possible.
Overview on how to Create AdSense
AdSense setup, let’s get an overview of what we will be doing here:
- Create an AdSense ad – choosing the size and format to fit into your webpage. Set up the color for your ad that is complementary to your site. Name your AdSense ad.
- Get Code – for each ad unit you create, you get its code and paste into your web page/site
Steps in Setting Up Your AdSense
1. Sign up for AdSense at Getting Started with Google AdSense
You will need to wait for your application from Google before you can proceed to the next step.
2. Create a Google Ad
Note: At this time, you cannot delete an ad once it has been created. You can only hide it (in your AdSense account). Google has been talking about making deletion possible for a long time now, but as of this posting, that is still not a possibility.
3. Once you have saved your ad and obtained the code for your adSense, you can just copy the code and then paste it into anywhere you would like on a webpage.
This is the simplest and most basic way on how to create AdSense ad. Your ads are saved in your Account. You can create more ads later – either in different format/sizes for different locations on your site, or create different ads in different colors, for other sites that you may own.
